15 April, 2014With the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013 coming into effect on the 1st of April the Shine partnership thought it an apt time to roll out their first workshop in East Dunbartonshire.
So on Wednesday the event took place in Enterprise House and was well attended by a cross-section of individuals and families from across the community, many of whom have had positive and life-changing experiences of using Self-Directed Support.
The workshop looked at ways of utilizing people’s first hand experiences of front-line services to raise awareness and promote the benefits of SDS in East Dunbartonshire. Everyone agreed that telling their positive stories of using SDS was the most effective way to spread the word about the benefits of this form of service provision. The workshop also informed attendees about the good work being carried out by the Shine Partnership in other local authorities.
There are many Shine events going on across Scotland so watch this space for the next East Dunbartonshire event providing an opportunity to tell people your experiences of using Self-Directed Support and help others with the transition
