27 June, 2013Ceartas is working with East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture Trust to give people with dementia and their carers an opportunity to get creative – and make it snappy!
The ‘My Community My Memories’ photography project will run over four Wednesday afternoons in July. It gives people a chance to reminisce about the local community in the past, to explore both the past and the present through photography, and to share their memories and experiences.
Karen Heath, who is co-ordinating the project for Ceartas, said, “We are delighted to be working with East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, and very grateful for their support on this project. My Community My Memories aims to support people affected by dementia to express themselves through creativity, to show us what parts of the community are important to them and why. By doing this, we hope to gather wider information about what is important to people affected by dementia in East Dunbartonshire. This information should help us provide guidance for the dementia-friendly community we want to create for the future.”
My Community My Memories will run over Wednesday 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st July, between 2:00 and 3:30 in the afternoon, at the Ceartas offices in McGregor House, Kirkintilloch. For further details, contact Karen Heath on 0141 775 0433 or kheath@ceartas.org.uk.
