ABI Cafe – Cook off!

ABI Cafe met on Thursday 2nd May and thoroughly enjoyed a cookery demonstration by Clare Bannerman. Clare showed the group how to make a cheap, healthy quick and easy soup and stir fry! You’ll just need too take our word for it that it was delicious!! Our thanks to Clare for all the tips and recommendations. The Group have been very busy preparing for the ABI Seminar which took place on Wednesday 15th May and was a great success in raising awareness of ABI in the local area. The ABI Cafe planning group are looking into the possibilty of the group members producing a book on their experiences of living with brain injury. They are also looking forward to a summer musical afternoon at the end of June – music, cakes and tea . . what more could we want!

East Dunbartonshire MAP is looking for a new name

The ‘East Dunbartonshire Violence Against Women Multi-Agency Partnership’ is looking for a new name. The group brings together a number of key agencies in East Dunbartonshire to prevent gender-based violence. It is currently developing a new strategy, and as part of that strategy they have decided they need a new name.

The partnership is looking for a short and catchy name to ecapsulate the work that they do. Words like ‘Resilience’ and ‘Strength’ spring to mind, but can you come up with a better name?

East Dunbartonshire MAP is holding a competition to find a new name. The winner will receive a gorgeous pamper box of skin care and beauty treats from Temple Spa, as well as a delicious fresh fruit and vegetable hamper from the East Dunbartonshire Food Co-op.

Still Game

Our user involvement group, Still Game, met again on Tuesday 7th May. Various members of the group are now taking responsibility for aspects of the meeting which is really encouraging. Still Game awarded their first ‘Ceartas Champion’ certificate to John McLaren. This was for personal achievements and also for being a great ambassador for Ceartas. Gordon Thomson, Ceartas CEO updated the group about the recent EFQM award, and future plans for Ceartas. The group had a visit from a drama teacher who is willing to do some drama workshops with the group and they showed off their potential with some role play! The Group are looking forward to a quiz along with the Advocacy Staff in June and one or two of the group members will be giving presentations about issues which affect them. Look out for their summer newsletter which the task group will be working on over the next month.
