3 October, 2017A big thank you to all who attended the #AyeME Advocacy Conference at the Glazert Country House Hotel on Tuesday: your involvement and enthusiasm was paramount to the success of our first ever Conference.
The event featured guest speakers John Loughton (Dare2Lead), Susan Manion (EDHSCP) and Cathy Asante (Scottish Human Rights Commission). Each provided an interesting and informative talk that was enhanced by the interaction of those in attendance.
Following the morning programme of speakers, members of the Ceartas team then led workshops on topics key to independent advocacy and the values of the organisation. These included;
Non-instructed Advocacy, led by Advocacy Workers Alex Doherty and Susie Martin
P.A.T.H, led by Services Manager Sharon Bairden and Finance & Admin Manager Patricia Ovens
Knowing Me, led by Dementia Services Worker Karen Heath and Involvement Worker Linda McGavin
A fourth workshop was led by Neil Ross of Integratis Consultancy, who discussed the recent monitoring and evaluation of Ceartas and all related activities of which he has been conducting.
After lunch, the afternoon programme included a presentation from the Service User Forum and featured Co-Chair Nicola Williamson and member Tam Willson to discuss the work of the Forum.
Following the closing remarks, each delegate was invited to complete a short evaluation of the conference which will help us when planning events in future.
