Monday
Karen and Linda hosted the Knowing Me Graduation at McGregor House. The group watched some of their films and evaluated the work of the group, before receiving certificates for their valuable contributions.
Linda and Susie went to the Merkland Senior Phase Parents Evening to discuss how Ceartas can support young people (16+) in their transition from school and routes to advocacy.
Tuesday
A member of team provided advocacy support to an elderly lady in a care home who wishes to return to her own home. Social work have raised concerns in how she would manage, so the role of advocacy was to meet with the woman, help her explore her options and support her to prepare a response.
Roy went on an OPAL visit to Regent Gardens Medical Practice to discuss how the service can help enhance the work of GPs. You can read more about OPAL here
Wednesday
Linda and Cheryl facilitated the LDAS Human Rights Workshop at McGregor House. Click here for pics and more info.
Thursday
A member of the team attended an AWI meeting for an elderly lady who is currently in hospital. Due to her particular care needs, there is a possibility that she will be moved into a care setting under legislation. The role of advocacy was to highlight her rights in this situation through non-instructed advocacy.
Ronnie went to the Gathering at the SEC and attended a couple of One Digital workshops; ‘Leadership in a digital world’ and ‘Showcasing innovation and tech for good.’
Friday
A member of the team attended a Mental Health Tribunal at the Millan Suit for a man who is on a STDO (Short Term Detention Order). Read more about this process below
