See Me in Work Programme
21 October, 2016Ceartas Digest: 24th – 28th October 2016
28 October, 2016It was ‘The October Week’ but no breaks for the team at Ceartas…
Monday – Knowing Me week 6: the group reviewed their stories and were given an introduction to using an iPAD with a focus on capturing pictures and videos.
A member of our team supported a gentleman in his own home to meet with an Occupational Therapist from the Learning Disability Team, to assess his daily living skills within the home and to ensure that the correct support is put in place. In cases like this, it is paramount an individual has the support to put forward their views to others and take steps to maintain their independence.
Tuesday – At our Practice Development meeting we welcomed representatives from Connections, the mental health organisation based in East Dunbartonshire, who came in to discuss the particular service they offer and their referral process.
Wednesday – OPAL Ops meeting at McGregor House, the usual topics of discussion being unusual information enquiries and ways to promote the service.
Cheryl and Alex went to Assets in Action Training at Kirkintilloch Library to discuss the East Dunbartonshire Asset Website and Map, available to access here:

Thursday – Cheryl went to the Birdston Day Care Service User meeting.
A member of the team supported a woman meeting with her housing officer. The woman stated that she no longer feels safe within her home and that it was becoming a bit of an obstacle but wanted to remain in the area having lived there for a long period of time and has a built up a good network of support around her.
Friday –
Alex spent the afternoon supporting a young lady with some housing issues that she has been experiencing. She is currently in homeless temporary accommodation but does not feel that it is suitable due to her circumstances. Unfortunately due to housing shortages and increase in demand, this case may prove difficult to resolve, however, advocacy will continue to work to ensure that the lady is involved in the process every step of the way.
Next week-
