Today marks the beginning of Action for Brain Injury Week 2015!

At Ceartas, we can provide independent advocacy support to adults in East Dunbartonshire with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Advocacy is a way to make a persons voice stronger and to give them as much control over their lives as possible. Advocacy Workers can also provide information so that individuals are aware of all their options and can make informed choices.

Together with Headway Glasgow, we also facilitate a monthly ABI cafe. This is a support and information group for people with an Acquired Brain Injury and their carers. They have regular speakers and discussion topics and there is a chance to meet other people with an ABI from this area. The group meets on the first Thursday of the month at Kirkintilloch Baptist Church from 1.30pm-3.00pm.

As part of raising awareness of ABI, the group members have also been instrumental in putting together an annual seminar which has been going for 4 years now! This is a fantastic event involving individuals with an ABI, their carers and professionals and is an opportunity to share experiences, find out about available services and raise awareness!

For more information on advocacy or the ABI cafe, please give us a call on 0141 775 0433
