3 November, 2014A-Spire, our user involvement group for those on the Autistic Spectrum, were in the office for their monthly get together.
This month we had a visit from David Prentice, East Dunbartonshire’s Local Area Coordinator who came in to discuss the various groups in East Dunbartonshire available to A-Spire members.
Brogan then spoke about advocacy, what this means and how the members might not need advocacy support just but may need it in the future. Group members then discussed the 10th Anniversary event and their Christmas outing.
In the second hour we had Peter McCormack, Museum Development Officer at the Auld Kirk museum, come along. He brought various pieces from the museum along with him and discussed Kirkintilloch and its heritage, the war and the foundry’s which Kirky is now famous for. Peter then had a few mystery items which certainly got the conversation flowing. Staff and A-Spire members enjoyed Peter’s visit and we look forward to him coming along to Still Game.
Finally we are always trying to increase the numbers at A-Spire and let people know about the group therefore next month, with the help of Gemma B, the group will be working on some new flyers to promote the group in the local area.
