15 October, 2013Ceartas staff are finishing their preparations for the Flourishing in East Dunbartonshire event at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre on Thursday morning. This week is Scottish Mental Health Week, and as part of that initiative, we are concentrating on older people’s wellbeing, looking at ways that they can plan for the future, reduce the uncertainty and worry about getting older, and maintain their mental and physical health.
The event will feature seminars from Solicitors for Older People Scotland on on preparing for the legal and financial aspects of the future, and from East Dunbartonshire Citizens Advice Bureau on income maximisation, and making sure you are getting all the benefits, credits and allowances that you are entitled to.
Also at the event we will be formally launching OPAL: the Older People’s Access Line. OPAL is a single point of contact for older people in East Dunbartonshire to get the information and services they need to live a successful and independent life. We recently welcomed Carers Link on board as a new partner organisation in OPAL, and we will be building the capacity of the service over the next few months.
Flourishing in East Dunbartonshire will be taking place on Thursday 10th between 10:00 and 12:00, followed by lunch for people attending the seminars. Booking for the seminars is essential, so please call Ceartas on 0141 775 0433 or email info@ceartas.org.uk.
