7 March, 2013Karen Heath, our Information Development Worker, is working on an exciting new project to develop an Dementia Awareness pack for school pupils. The Dementia Awareness pack is aimed at Primary six and seven pupils, and combines information and activities to make children aware of how their memory works, and what happens when it doesn’t work so well.
“The packs are designed to fulfil the criteria for Curriculum for Excellence, so they are a proper working part of the school curriculum. The packs will be piloted in two primary schools in East Dunbartonshire from now until June. Ultimately, we are working towards building a resource that we can use with secondary-age pupils too.”
Ceartas Advocacy is working in partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council, colleagues from the local NHS and Alzheimer Scotland to develop the Dementia Awareness packs. For more information, you can contact Karen Heath on 0141 775 0433 or email kheath@ceartas.org.uk.
