Dementia Information and Support Group

The Dementia Information and Support Group is a group run by Ceartas and the Community Mental Health Team, in partnership, at the Woodlands Day Centre. The course runs over a six week period and in each of the six week sessions there is a speaker invited to attend the group, who has a detailed knowledge or personal experience of dementia. During the six weeks, some of the topics covered include:

  • Introduction and What is Dementia?
  • Communication and Supporting Relationships
  • Personal Experiences of Dementia
  • Support in the Community
  • Access to Services

The group provides information, advice and support, for people with an early diagnosis of dementia and their family/carers that will help them to live fully for today and plan for tomorrow. People attending the group are given the opportunity to access information, as well as peer and professional support.
