Meet the Staff
Gordon Thomson (Chief Executive Officer)
Gordon has worked in advocacy since 1999 when he developed an advocacy service in South Lanarkshire before moving to Kirkintilloch in 2001. Gordon’s previous background was within the local authority where he was employed in day, residential and homecare services. As C.E.O. he is responsible for the both day-to-day management of the organisation and its strategic planning and development. Tasks that he combines with thinking about football!
Sharon McAtemney (Senior Advocacy Worker)
Sharon has worked within advocacy since 2002 having formerly been with Key Housing. Sharon undertakes advocacy support and takes a lead role in the development of dementia services within the organisation. These duties include line managing the information service and also deputising, when required, for the C.E.O. Sharon has also recently completed a firewalk a magnificent feat without the aid of any fireman.
Hilary Wilson (Advocacy Worker)
Hilary has worked with Ceartas since 2004. Hilary previously worked with Age Concern Scotland as an advocacy worker and brings to the team a wealth of experience from her former role as a hospital social worker with Glasgow City Council. Hilary has a wide variety of interests with the team benefiting from her homebaking though less appreciative of her love of learning Esperanto.
Aileen Peter (Advocacy Resource Worker)
Aileen is our newest recruit joining in 2006 from Turning Point. Aileen holds an advocacy caseload but is also involved in developing our information service and providing a follow up service to information enquiries. A keen gardener Aileen likes to get to the root of all problems. (apologies)
Patricia Ovens (Office Co-coordinator)
The person with responsibility for managing the finance and administration systems within the organisation. Patricia has been working within finance control for 20 years no mean achievement for a 21 year old!
Lynne Bairden (User Involvement: Addictions)
The user involvement officer ensures that Service Users are able to become involved in planning and delivering local services within the local Addictions Framework. Lynn is a registered mental nurse who works within the addictions field. Lynn is committed to this work and we are benefiting form her research.
Lori Stevenson (Development Worker)
Lori has been employed to work with us on a consultancy basis as our Development Officer, as we evaluate our service and develop a number of projects. Lori is an experienced trainer, having worked with GCU, Alzheimer’s Scotland and at the Dementia Development Centre in Stirling. A renowned cook, her gluten free scones are indeed the stuff of legend.
